MOM SIGNED BY TURKEY & AZERBAIJAN FOR AN AGRICULTURAL STEERING COMMITTEE

A Memorandum of Understanding regarding mutual information and experience exchange as well as a declaration of intention regarding development of cotton planting were signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan on 29 April 2019 at a ceremony in which Mr. Bekir Pakdemirli and Mr. İnam Kerimov, Ministers of Agriculture of respective countries, participated.
 

Mr. Pakdemirli mentioned his belief in turning good relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan into mutual trade and investment in the meeting which senior ministerial executives and Ahmet Güldal, Board Chairman and General Manager of Turkish Grain Board, also attended.

It is anticipated within the scope of this cooperation that a bilateral trade volume of 15 billion USD will be reached and share of agricultural trade will be increased to achieve this goal in line with the targets jointly set by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and İlham Aliyev, presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan respectively. On the other hand, Azerbaijan improved her potential to increase her hazelnut production capacity and became the third largest hazelnut producer of the world. In this regard, the parties mutually declared their intention of enhancing cooperation opportunities for hazelnut production and marketing.
